Art @ The Clayton Center – July 2017

For the past few weeks, Clayton Visual Arts Inc has helped to fill The Clayton Center bright photos and beautiful voices from Clayton Youth Theater! Come see them captured in 10 years of photographs in our lobby and don’t miss experiencing them on the stage tomorrow, Friday or Saturday! If you come to the The Clayton Center this weekend, you’ll walk out of The Clayton Center thinking you just saw a show ON Broadway! Seriously, that’s what people have been saying for the past decade about the amazingly talented performers of Clayton Youth Theater!

They’re celebrating their 10th Anniversary tonight – going back to the very first show they staged in 2007, the sci-fi musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors. You don’t want to miss it! The actors are the best of the best from all over the Triangle – teens who survive an exteremly competive selection process, rehearse for months and train under Director Nikki Dyke like professional actors. The result: incredible productions that will have you thinking you’re on 53rd Street in New York City and not on 2nd Street in Downtown Clayton, NC!

FIVE performance this weekend and next! Don’t miss one – just $12 for adults and only $6 for kids 18 and under (plus sales tax & fees). Go online at or call The Clayton Center Box Office NOW at 919-553-1737. A display of wonderful photographs of their past 10 years is in the lobby of Town Hall/The Clayton Center courtesy Clayton Visual Arts! Check it out when you come to buy your tickets!

Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his co-worker crush. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice and an unquenchable thirst for HUMAN BLOOD. With an electrifying 1960s pop/rock score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, this charmingly tongue in cheek comedy is sure to leave audiences screaming … with laughter!

The Town of Clayton appreciates the work of the non-profit Clayton Visual Arts in promoting local artists and bringing and organizing such wonderful monthly exhibits right in the lobby of Town Hall! We welcome Clayton Visual Arts new president Princess Michelle Hester! She and Medrith Nuttle will be displaying their art works in the lobby for the month of August. Hester has some gorgeous photographs and Nuttle shares her colorful Impressionist paintings.

The lobby is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. It’s the public’s free art gallery!

Check out more about these featured artists and join us for the free receptions hosted by CVA where you can meet the artists themselves and enjoy refreshments! They’re held the first Thursday of every month inside The Clayton Center/Town Hall from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Children welcome!
