"Capturing Clayton 2024"
Photography Competition and Exhibition
“Capturing Clayton 2024” will feature the talents of local photographers (of all levels) as they snap images of the beautiful town of Clayton and its surrounding areas. Accepted entries will be displayed in The Clayton Center for the month of May. We hope you will venture outside the downtown area and capture the beautiful surrounding areas and features, through your lens.
Awards totaling $1,000
- 1st Place: *$700
- 2nd Place: $150
- 3rd Place: $100
- Honorable Mention: $50
*First Place winner is a Purchase Award. CVA will present the winning artwork to the Town of Clayton.
Rules and Eligibility
- “Capturing Clayton 2024” is open to professional and amateur photographers.
- Photographers do not have to be Clayton residents.
- Photographers must be high school age or older.
- Competition is open to photography that is traditional, digital, and digitally altered.
- CVA reserves the right to disqualify any work whose content does not meet generally accepted community standards of good taste.
- Photographers may enter up to three entries.
- All photographic images must be for sale.
- All photographic images must be the work of the exhibiting photographer.
- Photography must be wired (no sawtooth hangers) and ready to hang; cannot exceed 35 pounds.
- All pieces must be labeled with artwork title and photographer’s name on the back.
- The photographs will be judged by a panel of Clayton’s Town Council and Town of Clayton employees.
- All images must be hand delivered. No mailed images will be accepted.
- Clayton Visual Arts and The Clayton Center are not responsible for loss or damage of images. Photographers should insure their work if they desire.

- Monday, April 22 – Mailed entries must be postmarked no later than this date to be accepted.
- Wednesday, April 24 – Deadline for online entry and/or changes to submitted entries.
- Wednesday, May 1 – 9:00am – 12:00pm. Deliver artwork to The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Clayton NC.
- Thursday, May 9 – Free reception 6:00 – 7:30pm to announce winners and honor recipients.
- Monday, June 3 – Pick up artwork before 10:00am.
Sales
Clayton Visual Arts handles all sales from this exhibit and receives 30% commission. Photographers are responsible for sales tax on works sold.
First Place winning entry is a Purchase Award. CVA will present the winning photograph to the Town of Clayton.
